    Roads & Buildings Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy praised the efforts of staff members in minimizing property damage and loss of life during the recent floods in the state. He commended the hard work of revenue and police personnel during the emergency. Reddy also mentioned the bravery of electrical workers who performed their duties even in heavy floods.

    Speaking during the Assembly Session on the impact of heavy rains and floods, Reddy reported that 1500 people were rescued by firemen. The state has set up 150 relief centers and relocated people from 770 residences to safe areas.

    Reddy informed that 139 villages have suffered significant flood damage, with 419 houses completely destroyed and 7500 partially damaged. He announced that the Gruhalakshmi scheme will provide financial assistance to those who have lost their houses due to the floods. Reddy emphasized that the state government is committed to providing relief, regardless of assistance from the central government.

    The agriculture department officials are currently assessing crop damage caused by the rains. Reddy questioned the prediction made by Congress MLA D. Sridhar Babu regarding flood damage. A decision on crop loss compensation will be made after receiving reports from all departments.

    Reddy highlighted the positive impact of Mission Kakatiya in reducing the severity of danger. The strengthening of the pond system through this mission has prevented flooding of thousands of ponds annually.

    Regarding the roads in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Reddy acknowledged the damage caused by floods over the past three years. However, strategic road development has minimized the extent of this damage. Similarly, the development of stormwater drains has also reduced losses in GHMC.

    Overall, Reddy expressed gratitude for the efforts made by various departments and emphasized the government’s commitment to providing relief to affected individuals and communities.
