Kagaznagar: BRS leader RS Praveen Kumar has accused the management of Sirpur Paper Mill of treating workers unfairly and creating a divide between local and non-local employees.
Speaking at a workers’ meeting on Tuesday, where he was the chief guest, Praveen Kumar said that while India supports justice for all, a different kind of justice seems to exist at the paper mill. He said this goes against Article 14 of the Indian Constitution, which promises equality for everyone.
He criticized the management for not providing even basic facilities like drinking water in workers’ housing. He also said that employees are facing many problems such as reduced leave days, unpaid pensions, no salary increases, and the absence of punch-in systems at their workplaces.
Praveen Kumar also blamed the local MLA for staying silent and not standing up for the workers. He stressed that the workers are not asking for big things like trucks, bamboo, water, or paper contracts. All they want is to work with happiness and dignity.
He ended his speech by saying that for success, both the company and its workers must grow and succeed together. Many employees and other attendees were present at the event.
