Hyderabad: The state government is preparing for the ‘Praja Palana’ Day on September 17. This day marks the integration of Hyderabad State into the Indian Union in 1948.
K Ramakrishna Rao, the State Chief Secretary, has directed officials to ensure comprehensive preparations for the celebration. A meeting with senior officials took place at the Secretariat to discuss these plans.
Ramakrishna Rao mentioned that the Chief Minister will pay tribute at the Martyrs’ Stupa in Gun Park on the morning of September 17. Later, the Chief Minister will attend the ‘Praja Palana’ Day event in the Public Garden.
The GHMC Commissioner will act as the nodal officer, organizing activities at Gun Park and overseeing other preparations. Rao emphasized that main offices, statues, and popular tourist spots in the city should be illuminated. Officials from the Roads and Buildings Department must arrange for the event in the Public Garden. Continuous electricity, adequate drinking water, sanitation, and essential services are to be ensured. Invitations will be sent to all public representatives, including VVIPs.
In 2024, the state government decided to officially recognize September 17 as Telangana Praja Palana Day, commemorating the historical event of Hyderabad’s integration into the Indian Union.
