Principal Secretary of MA&UD Directs Officials to Ensure Clean Water Supply

Hyderabad: M. Dana Kishore, the Principal Secretary of the State Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department, has instructed water board officials to maintain high-quality standards in the supply of drinking water within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

Following recent heavy rains, a review meeting was held with the officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to discuss the current situation regarding drinking water supply.

During the meeting, Dana Kishore emphasized that senior officials and other staff members of the water board need to visit different areas to address issues related to sanitation and drinking water. He highlighted the increased risk of water contamination due to the rains, stressing the importance of close attention to the entire water supply process, including water collection, storage, purification, chlorination, pumping, transmission, and distribution.

He also mentioned that GHMC and HMWSSB would collaborate in areas facing problems, with special attention to locations prone to waterlogging. Water quality tests will be conducted in areas affected by flooding, and water tankers will be used to provide clean water where contamination is detected.

Additionally, a control room will be set up to ensure that public complaints are addressed promptly and efficiently.
