The Pradesh Election Commission of the Congress committee in Hyderabad is having trouble choosing candidates for the upcoming elections. Ponnala Lakshmaiah, a senior leader, surprised the commission by saying that he wants to run and expects support from party leaders. He believes that as a former TPCC president, he should be given the ticket. T Jagga Reddy, another party leader, objected to this statement, stating that senior leaders should not make such demands.

TPCC president A Revanth Reddy also expressed his view that senior leaders should not make such demands. The Pradesh Election Commission will select candidates based on certain criteria and then seek approval from the party high command.
