Hyderabad: The city of Hyderabad was filled with religious excitement on Sunday, as thousands of devotees gathered to celebrate Sitarama Kalyanam, the divine wedding of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita, on the occasion of Shri Ram Navami.
People visited many temples across the city, including the Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple in Sitarambagh, the Hare Krishna Golden Temple in Banjara Hills, and the Sri Ramachandra Swamy Temple on Road No. 2. These temples held the special wedding ceremony, known as the ‘Kalyanam’, during the auspicious time called ‘Abhijit Lagnam’. Devotees prayed and sought blessings from Lord Rama and Goddess Sita.
The celebrations began in the morning with the traditional Sri Sitarama Kalyanotsavam. This ceremony was performed with sacred Vedic chants, devotional songs (bhajans), and group singing (kirtans). It was held to bring blessings for peace and happiness for all.
In the evening, temples, including the Hare Krishna Golden Temple, held grand processions called Maha Pallaki Utsavam. Devotees sang joyfully, danced, and threw flower petals as the idols of the divine couple were carried in decorated palanquins. The entire atmosphere was filled with devotion and joy.
