Hyderabad: Telangana Congress President B Mahesh Kumar Goud has challenged Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar to push for 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) at the Centre. He questioned whether Bandi Sanjay had the courage to go against the BJP high command and fight for the demand.
Goud was responding to Bandi Sanjay’s recent remarks where he claimed that the Telangana government was being micromanaged by the Congress national leadership. These comments came after Congress State incharge Meenakshi Natarajan met with a panel of ministers regarding the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) issue.
In a media statement on Sunday, Goud criticized the BJP’s State leadership for not participating in the “maha dharna” protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, even though the party had supported the BC reservation resolution in the Telangana Assembly. He also reminded people of how Bandi Sanjay once held a Union Minister’s footwear with his bare hands, calling it an act of subservience to the BJP high command.
The Congress leader warned Bandi Sanjay to avoid making irresponsible comments. He stressed that Congress is a disciplined party that makes decisions through democratic processes, unlike the BJP. He also accused the BJP and BRS of having a secret agreement ahead of the upcoming local body elections, claiming they are working together because they cannot defeat Congress on their own.
Goud said Bandi Sanjay’s recent statements were inappropriate for someone holding the position of a Union Minister. He believes that Sanjay is trying to attract attention in hopes of regaining the BJP State president’s post. Goud also advised him not to speak about the HCU land issue, as it is currently in court.
He concluded by saying that Bandi Sanjay is the kind of leader who wouldn’t even have breakfast without the permission of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Goud claimed that Sanjay’s frustration over not being chosen again as State president is clear in his behavior and statements.
