Release of Dharani panel’s preliminary report expected prior to budget session

The committee led by M Kodanda Reddy will give an interim report on the Dharani portal to the State government before the Budget. They will also submit a detailed report within the next 3 months after conducting studies in various districts and neighboring states. The Congress party is investigating the Dharani portal and studying the success of the registration mechanism in Andhra Pradesh. The committee will visit districts, meet with district Collectors, and speak to locals. They will also conduct surveys in sample villages in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The committee has already had two meetings and will have another on January 22. They believe that Dharani was a major scam that compromised the land and revenue system and exposed crucial information of property owners to third parties. They also question the intentions behind undermining the authority of CCLA.
