BJP leader Konda Vishweswar Reddy said reports of him leaving the party and joining Congress are false. He spoke to the media on Saturday with party secretary Dr Prakash Reddy. Reddy said that some media twisted his words to make it seem like he is supporting Congress, when he is not. He also said that Congress has no principles or ideology, unlike the BJP, which is committed to its nationalist and Hindutva principles.

Reddy studied the BJP and its principles from the Jan Sangh days and joined the party because he believed it was the right one to take on the BRS in Telangana. He dismissed allegations that the BJP is a North Indian, Brahmin-Bania or communal party. He pointed out that the BJP is not like Congress, which forcefully merged Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for political reasons and refused to create a separate Telangana. Congress also shot down several students during the first phase of the separate Telangana movement. The BJP, however, remained consistent in its support for smaller states.
