Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy called on Congress MPs to push for 42% reservations for backward classes (BCs) in Telangana, aiming to set a national standard. He encouraged Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge to lead this effort in Parliament, while Telangana Congress leaders would rally support at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
In a presentation in Delhi, the CM showcased the swift completion of a caste survey by the Telangana government, addressing Rahul Gandhi, Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. He highlighted the diligent work that achieved this in just 60 days.
Reddy proposed that the survey be seen as a national model, possibly called the “RaRe model.” He suggested this if naming it after Telangana was contested, emphasizing its potential as a roadmap for India.
The CM shared a letter of praise from Sonia Gandhi, likening it to winning prestigious awards, which was met with applause from his party colleagues.
The successful SEEEPC (Social, Education, Employment, Economic, Political, Caste) survey, Reddy claimed, posed a significant challenge to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the RSS. He asserted that the Congress party’s triumph could force the central government to include caste details in the next census, recalling how Modi had to retract farm laws following Rahul Gandhi’s efforts.
Reddy boldly defended the survey’s accuracy, stating he held “88 crore pages of foolproof data” and dared anyone to dispute it. He noted that certain leaders, like K Chandrashekar Rao and his family, opted out and thus were not counted.
Rahul Gandhi praised Revanth Reddy and his team for surpassing expectations and setting a high benchmark for social justice. He affirmed that this effort would influence a national caste census, regardless of BJP’s stance.
Priyanka Gandhi expressed pride in the achievement and the political bravery it demonstrated.
