Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to open a new palm oil factory in Narmetta, Siddipet soon, as announced by Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao.
On Saturday, the Minister and officials toured the factory in Narmetta village, which was built by the Telangana State Cooperative Oilseeds Growers Federation (TS-Oilfed) with a Rs300 crore investment. A trial run of the factory was successful during their visit.
Tummala highlighted that the factory demonstrates Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s forward-thinking approach. It is the first in the country to use cutting-edge technology.
He remarked, “This palm oil factory will bring new prosperity to farmers. Growing oil palms provides steady profits, and farmers can earn more by planting intercrops.”
The Minister expressed confidence that Telangana will become a leader in oil palm farming. Despite financial challenges, the state completed the factory to uphold the Chief Minister’s promise to aid farmers.
The factory not only extracts oil from the fruit but also from the seeds. Energy needs are met using waste from oil production, according to Tummala Nageswara Rao. During his visit, he talked with local farmers about their issues and farming methods. When farmers mentioned delays in transport payments, Tummala quickly told officials to address the problem.
