In Hyderabad, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met with AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge at Kharge’s home in Bengaluru. Reddy discussed the Congress Party’s chances in the Jubilee Hills by-election and upcoming local body elections.
During their conversation, Reddy checked on Kharge’s health after his recent hospital stay. He informed Kharge that the state Congress had selected four potential candidates for the by-election. These names will be sent to the AICC for final approval on Tuesday.
Reddy also mentioned ongoing court cases concerning a 42% BC quota in the local body elections and the government’s efforts to resolve these in court.
Meanwhile, TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud stated that the Congress may choose a strong BC leader for the Jubilee Hills by-election. Speaking to reporters, Goud shared that three ministers have assessed the candidates’ chances of winning. The report will be reviewed by the CM on Tuesday before being sent to the AICC.
The Congress leadership is expected to announce their candidate within two or three days. The party will launch the ‘Basti Bata’ program in Jubilee Hills. Goud also mentioned that Congress would seek support from AIMIM for the by-election. He confirmed that CPI, CPM, and Telangana Jana Samithi will be Congress partners in the local elections.
