Hyderabad: On Monday, N Ramchander Rao, President of Telangana BJP, accused the Congress-led state government of misleading the Backward Classes (BCs). He argued that they didn’t properly implement the 42% reservation in local elections.
Rao spoke to the media about the Supreme Court dismissing a petition against the BC quota. He explained it was a procedural matter since a related case is still open in the Telangana High Court.
He criticized Congress ministers for creating drama by going to Delhi and claiming a legal win. “This is just a show,” said Rao. He urged Congress to argue their case in the High Court if they truly care about BC welfare.
Rao reiterated the BJP’s support for the 42% BC reservations, promising to fight for justice legally.
On another issue, Rao called for the removal of the recent hike in RTC bus fares. The increase set the minimum city bus fare to Rs 10. He accused the Congress government of burdening the poor and middle class, despite their promise of free travel for women. “This is typical Congress behavior,” he remarked.
Rao also mentioned a three-member committee formed to choose the BJP candidate for the upcoming Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election. The committee includes former MLA M Dharma Rao, former MP Ramulu, and Komala Anjaneyulu. “We are ready to win Jubilee Hills,” he stated.
Meanwhile, leaders and activists from the Muslim minority community in Maheshwaram joined the BJP, welcomed by Rao and MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy. Rao said their support shows trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development programs.
N V Subhash, state BJP chief spokesperson, also attended the event. Rao concluded by highlighting the BJP’s inclusive approach and focus on development, attracting diverse groups in Telangana.
