The Telangana High Court heard a case about land under the Thammidikunta Lake in Madhapur. Justice Bollam Vijaysen Reddy stressed the need for fair compensation for landowners affected by lake projects. He urged the government to create a clear policy on Transferable Development Rights (TDR).

Justice Reddy said property owners in lake zones should receive proper compensation. This would help lake projects progress smoothly without disputes. A transparent TDR system would prevent delays.

The judge praised the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) for their dedication to lake restoration. Their efforts have improved many water bodies previously affected by pollution and encroachments. Projects like Bathukammakunta and Malkam Cheruvu highlight HYDRAA’s commitment to urban sustainability.

He specifically mentioned Bathukammakunta, which was once full of waste and weeds. It has now become a scenic lake and public space. This transformation not only improves the area’s look but also reduces flood risk and boosts groundwater levels. Such efforts are vital for restoring Hyderabad’s ecological balance and enhancing urban life.
