Hyderabad — As the State positions itself at the forefront of the global creative economy, Bollywood icon Salman Khan is set to grace the upcoming Telangana Rising Global Summit, signalling a major boost for the southern state’s ambitions in entertainment, media, and infrastructure.
Telangana Government’s Big Bet on Creative Economy & Global Outreach
The Telangana Government — under its long-term development agenda, Telangana Rising 2047 — has been steadily expanding its footprint across diverse sectors: technology, infrastructure, media, entertainment, and tourism.
The Global Summit, scheduled on December 8–9 at Bharat Future City near Hyderabad, is set to be the showpiece platform for the government’s investor outreach and global positioning efforts.
Salman Khan & Film-Studio Investments: A New Chapter
In a recent meeting, Salman Khan committed to supporting the Telangana Rising vision globally.
Sources confirm that Salman Khan’s production house is in advanced talks with the state for building a state-of-the-art film studio inside Bharat Future City. This would complement another proposed studio by actor-producer Ajay Devgn, marking a significant expansion of film-production infrastructure in Telangana.
If realised, these studios promise to not only boost the local media and entertainment ecosystem — including film, OTT, post-production, VFX — but also position Telangana as a key national hub bridging Bollywood and South-Indian cinema.
Global Summit: What to Expect
-
The summit is expected to draw around 1,300 senior delegates representing 500 global and national companies, investors, diplomats, and industry bodies, including associations such as ASSOCHAM, CII, FICCI, and NASSCOM.
-
The agenda goes beyond film — the state plans to showcase proposals across sectors, including sports city development, infrastructure, tourism, fintech/GCCs, AI, green economy, and urban mobility.
-
One of the planned highlights: a Guinness World Record-attempt drone show on December 9 — with 3,000 synchronised drones set to form the aerial message: “Telangana is Rising. Come, Join the Rise.”
What Salman Khan’s Inclusion Means
-
Boost to Creative Economy: Having Salman Khan on board adds star power and credibility — likely to attract further investments in film, media, entertainment, and allied infrastructure.
-
Bridge between North & South Cinema: With studios planned inside Bharat Future City, Telangana could become a bridge connecting the Bollywood and South-Indian film industries.
-
Global Visibility for “Telangana Rising”: Celebrities of Salman Khan’s stature help amplify the state’s vision to wider national and international audiences, aligning with the government’s ambition to brand Telangana as a global hub.
-
Employment & Industry Growth: New film studios, media production houses, auxiliary services (post-production, VFX, studios, hospitality) can drive job creation, skill development, and economic activity in and around Hyderabad.
Summit as Part of a Larger Transformation Strategy
The Global Summit is not a standalone event — it forms a core part of Telangana Rising 2047, a blueprint aiming to transform the state into a ₹300-trillion economy by 2047, with an annual growth rate of ~13%.
By combining infrastructure, technology, creative industries, sustainability, and global investment outreach, Telangana is trying to chart a unique, diversified growth path. The addition of high-profile film-studio investments showcases the state’s expanded ambition beyond traditional sectors.
