The Telangana government on Friday appointed senior IAS officer Sanjay Jaju as the state’s new Chief Secretary, marking a significant administrative transition ahead of the retirement of incumbent K. Ramakrishna Rao on June 30. The appointment was announced through an official government order issued by the General Administration Department.
A 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Jaju returns to his parent Telangana cadre after serving in key positions with the Union government. He most recently held the position of Secretary in the Union government and brings over three decades of administrative experience spanning infrastructure, governance, public policy and communications.
Besides taking charge as Chief Secretary, Jaju has also been entrusted with additional responsibilities, including oversight of the Industries & Commerce and Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (ITE&C) departments until further orders. The move is expected to ensure continuity in governance and fast-track major investment and infrastructure initiatives in the state.
As the highest-ranking civil servant in Telangana, the Chief Secretary coordinates the functioning of all government departments and serves as the principal adviser to the Chief Minister on administrative matters. Jaju’s appointment comes at a crucial juncture as the state pushes ahead with industrial expansion, urban infrastructure projects and digital governance reforms.
His appointment is expected to strengthen administrative coordination while providing leadership to the state’s bureaucracy as Telangana advances its development agenda under the current government.
