SCCL employees in Kothagudem are building residential quarters without permission from the municipality. The construction, costing Rs 273 crore, is happening in areas like Writer Basthi and Millennium Quarters. Nearly 643 apartments are being built without the necessary permits.

Although the municipality has previously sent notices and demolished unauthorized buildings, no action has been taken against SCCL’s projects. The SCCL management, expected to follow government regulations, is facing criticism for this illegal activity.

The agreement for the quarters’ construction was made in January last year through a tender process. The projects, set to be completed by December, are currently at different stages of development. The Municipal Commissioner confirmed that the SCCL quarters lack official approval due to technical issues.

Even though the company is constructing on government-leased land, they have not received permission because TS-bPASS has not accepted the necessary lease documents. A letter has been sent to the municipal administration department regarding this issue. The Commissioner emphasized that building without permission is not acceptable and promised an investigation.
