Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) is encouraging travelers to use the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) mobile app to avoid standing in long lines during the festive period. This app allows users to book unreserved journey, platform, and season tickets online and has become more popular since its introduction.
SCR has introduced a new approach by using retro-reflective jackets with QR codes on the back. Staff wearing these jackets will be stationed in busy areas like station concourses, entry and exit gates, and near ticket counters. Passengers can scan the QR code using the UTS or Rail One app to quickly buy tickets. These staff members will also help travelers understand the app’s use and advantages.
This system is being rolled out at major stations such as Secunderabad, Kacheguda, Vijayawada, Guntur, Guntakal, Tirupati, and Nanded, covering all six zones. Previously, ticket booking was restricted to station premises, but now passengers can purchase tickets from home, as long as they are at least 5 meters away from railway tracks or stations.
The UTS app supports multiple languages and digital payments. It also provides a 3% bonus on R-Wallet transactions, making travel cashless and easy.
