Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager, Arun Kumar Jain, inspected the working of the ‘KAVACH Version 3.2’ system on Sunday. He did this by travelling on the Tungabhadra Express, between the Secunderabad and Umdanagar section.
During the inspection, Jain closely examined how different parts of the system were functioning. This included the KAVACH towers, trackside equipment, and the signalling system. The KAVACH (Version 3.2) system has been put into commercial use after successful trials in various sections of South Central Railway, covering 1,200 route kilometers, including areas like Nagarsol, Mudkhed, Secunderabad, Dhone, Guntakal, Bidar, Parli Vaijnath, and Parbhani.
The KAVACH system helps loco pilots operate trains safely. It automatically applies brakes if the pilot does not do so within the required time, especially when trains are travelling at high speeds. It also ensures that trains can run safely during bad weather.
Arun Kumar Jain also mentioned that the KAVACH system reduces the chances of trains passing danger signals. This helps in making sure that train operations are safer. He further stated that there are plans to upgrade the KAVACH system to version 4.0 in the near future.
After the inspection, senior officers visited Umdanagar Railway Station. They reviewed the station’s passenger amenities and looked at the safety installations related to the KAVACH system. The officers also discussed plans for developing the station to meet future needs and demands.
