The Telangana State Second ANMs (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife) Union had started an indefinite strike to demand solutions for their issues. However, they have now decided to temporarily call off the strike. This decision came after a meeting with Commissioner RV Karnan, where they received assurances that their concerns would be addressed.

AITUC leader M. Narsimha stated that they plan to hold discussions with government representatives about approving OPANM and regular ANM positions in urban Primary Health Centers (PHCs). He also mentioned that the government has agreed to provide retirement benefits and full gross salary for second ANMs who are not eligible to take the exam. Additionally, they were promised that pending PRC dues for seven months and sub-center rent dues would be cleared by March 31.

The ANMs raised concerns about their workload. They explained that when staff members fail to report for duty on time, the extra responsibilities fall on second ANMs, increasing their burden. They also pointed out that they are required to maintain 38 different types of records, both in written form and online, which is making many of them fall ill due to stress. In response, the commissioner assured them that steps would be taken to reduce their workload.
