YS Sharmila, who will soon be the APCC president, visited YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya to pray at her father’s grave. She offered a Congress scarf and spent some time in prayer. KVP Ramachandra Rao, Raghuveera Reddy, Sailajanath, and Tulasi Reddy were among the senior Congress leaders who accompanied her. Ahmadullah, a former Minister, also joined the Congress in her presence.
Sharmila stated that she would be taking oath as APCC chief in Vijayawada the next day. She explained that she joined the Congress to fulfill her father’s wishes, as he had a love for the party and its principles. Sharmila emphasized the importance of restoring values such as secularism and respect for the constitution, which she believes are disappearing. She expressed her determination to fight for these values and to support Rahul Gandhi’s candidacy for Prime Minister of India.
