Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was supposed to visit Saudi Arabia during Ramadan, but the trip was cancelled due to the ongoing political crisis in Islamabad. The country is facing a rift between the government and the Supreme Court after a recent court decision regarding elections to the Punjab Assembly. Sharif was scheduled to meet his brother and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Saudi Arabia, but the meeting did not happen. This is the first time in the last ten years that a ruling Sharif family Prime Minister has not visited Saudi Arabia during Ramadan. Sharif is now expected to visit the UK next month to meet with his brother and attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles.
