The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) is working to turn Sikharchandi Hill into a popular tourist spot by adding necessary amenities. These amenities will include parking, a community center, areas for children to play, a recreational center, a trekking route, a viewpoint, battery-operated vehicles for people with disabilities, electric buses, and dedicated zones for picnickers. The estimated cost of these developments is Rs 30 crore.
To increase the greenery on the hill, a community plantation drive was organized by the BDA, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), and Odisha Forest Development Corporation (OFDC). Over 3,400 saplings of different species were planted across five acres of land. More than 5,000 people participated in the drive, including 2,000 students from schools and colleges.
In January, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the master plan for the redevelopment of Sikharchandi Hill. The project will cover an area of approximately 54 acres, including the main temple and its surroundings.
