Kothagudem: As part of the Van Mahotsavam initiative by the State government, Singareni CMD N Balaram showcased his commitment to the environment by planting 500 saplings in the Ramagundam-1 Area on Sunday.
Since 2019, Balaram has planted 19,570 saplings across 52 locations in Singareni, transforming them into thriving mini-forests.
Alongside Balaram, area general manager Lalith Kumar, officials, employees, and union leaders joined the event, adding 500 more saplings to the effort.
During the event, Balaram stressed the importance of environmental protection as a shared duty. He encouraged everyone to plant at least three saplings in their surroundings and care for them. He noted that the best legacy for future generations is a green environment, not material wealth.
Balaram mentioned that Singareni has successfully planted over 70 million saplings on 14,000 hectares, now matured into vast forests. These efforts have led to cooler temperatures in Singareni areas compared to others.
He explained that when new mines or roads are developed, trees are not simply cut down but relocated using translocation methods.
Balaram expressed his personal dedication to environmental protection, sharing his joy in seeing 40 mini-forests flourish from his efforts.
Singareni Collieries Company aims to plant 4.5 million saplings this year, with 500,000 already planted. Balaram urged a vigorous continuation of the plantation drive across all areas.
General Manager Lalith Kumar encouraged everyone to follow Balaram’s lead and actively engage in the plantation drive.
The event was attended by CMOAI President B. Mallesh, AITUC deputy secretary Maddy Ellayya, SEWA president Anita Lalith Kumar, along with area officials, agents, managers, workers, and union leaders.
