Kothagudem: N Balram, the head of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), announced on Sunday that the company will enhance safety measures in all its mines. He promised to consider feedback from trade unions to help make Singareni a place free from accidents.
During the 49th Safety Tripartite Review Meeting, Balram stressed the importance of each worker’s life and the need to follow safety guidelines. He pointed out that many accidents happen because of carelessness and encouraged both workers and management to share the responsibility for safety.
Ujjwal Tah, the Director General of DGMS, led the meeting, which included top DGMS officials, SCCL directors, trade union leaders, and female employees. Trade unions offered suggestions for improving safety, such as using better protective equipment, updating machinery, and enhancing medical services and staffing. Female workers expressed their gratitude for the support received while working in underground mines. SCCL directors and DGMS officials emphasized the need to strengthen safety systems. The meeting started with a moment of silence to honor workers who recently lost their lives in accidents.
