Congress leader Sridhar Babu has criticized the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders for shedding “crocodile tears” over the issue of the Mallanna Sagar project evacuees. He questioned what the government has done for those displaced by the project. Babu pointed out that while the government is currently focused on protecting the Musi River, some individuals are trying to create unrest for their own benefit.
Sridhar Babu emphasized that the government’s goal is not to harm the poor but to uplift them. “Our policy is to support the poor, not bring them down,” he said. He also noted that officials have already committed to removing illegal constructions along the riverbed to help restore the river’s natural ecosystem.
To support those affected by encroachments along the Musi River, Sridhar Babu highlighted that the government is offering double-bedroom houses to the victims. “We are fulfilling the dream of owning a home for those displaced,” he added.
Sridhar Babu’s comments reflect ongoing concerns about the displacement of vulnerable communities and the government’s efforts to provide them with proper housing solutions.
