IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu has expressed strong opposition to comments made by BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) leaders about removing a statue of the late Rajiv Gandhi from the Secretariat.
Sridhar Babu said that the BRS leaders want to remove the statue to please Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He shared these thoughts while speaking to the media on Tuesday.
Telangana Congress Chief, A Revanth Reddy, also urged people to think carefully about the decision to remove the statue. He reminded everyone that Rajiv Gandhi is credited with bringing technological advancements to India.
Sridhar Babu further mentioned that Rajiv Gandhi played a key role in lowering the voting age to 18, allowing young people to participate in democracy. He also praised Sonia Gandhi for fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Telangana. He criticized those who do not understand the sacrifices made for the country but still comment on the statue’s removal.
Additionally, the minister announced that a statue of “Telangana Talli” (Mother Telangana) will also be installed. He pointed out that the state is taking on debts to implement welfare programs like free travel for women and loan waivers. He added that Prime Minister Modi is aware of Telangana’s important role in India’s economy.
