An elderly farmer in the Muddineni Vaddipalli village of Annamayya district, Andhra Pradesh, was allegedly mauled to death by street dogs during the early hours of Monday, April 3. The victim, Reddiah (60), was returning from his farm in an inebriated state when the incident is believed to have occurred. The incident was discovered on Tuesday when the victim’s family members found his body with several injuries, surrounded by dogs. The police were informed and the body was taken for postmortem. The police suspect that the death may have been due to the canine attack or excessive alcohol consumption, followed by an attack by dogs. The reason for the death can only be confirmed after the postmortem. This incident comes just two days after a senior bureaucrat in the neighbouring state of Telangana was attacked by street dogs while taking a morning stroll at his home.
