Student leaders from various organizations in Hyderabad protested against the NEET paper leak scam by attempting to lay siege to Union Minister G Kishan Reddy’s residence. The leaders, representing NSUI, SFI, AISF, and other unions, were led by MLC Balmoor Venkat.
The protesting students reached the Minister’s residence and tried to break through the security cover, leading to the detention of many of them. Most of the detained students were later taken to Nallakunta police station.
The student organizations have been demanding a probe supervised by a sitting Supreme Court judge and the termination of the National Testing Agency (NTA), which is responsible for conducting the NEET exam and is blamed for the leak.
Venkat stated in a media release that the student leaders had attempted to lay siege to the Minister’s residence because they were not granted an appointment. He emphasized that 60,000 students from Telugu states alone had taken the test and called on Kishan Reddy to take the students’ legitimate demands to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Venkat also urged the Union government to apologize to the 24 lakh families in India who have invested significantly in their children’s education.
