Hyderabad: The students of the Social Welfare Hostels in Telangana recently met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to thank him for increasing their diet and cosmetic charges. This decision was made by the State government for the welfare of students living in these hostels.
A group of students, led by Mancherial MLA Prem Sagar, visited the Chief Minister’s residence in Jubilee Hills on Monday. They expressed their gratitude to the CM for the government’s support and the increase in their allowances.
During the meeting, the students shared their concerns with the Chief Minister, specifically requesting the construction of their own hostel buildings. Responding quickly, CM Revanth Reddy promised that the government would build new hostels after acquiring land from local authorities.
While speaking to the students, the Chief Minister emphasized that the education system has been neglected over the past ten years. He assured them that the government would soon introduce significant changes to improve the education system.
He further mentioned that the government has decided to provide free electricity to all government schools and colleges. Additionally, a Skill University has been established to help young people learn new skills. The CM explained that Industrial Training Institutes (ITSs) would be upgraded into Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs).
He also announced plans to set up a sports university soon. The CM urged youth organizations to encourage school enrollment, especially among dropouts, to reduce the dropout rates in schools and colleges. Revanth Reddy highlighted the importance of education for all young people and warned against the dangers of drug abuse, including substances like ganja.
The Chief Minister encouraged students and unemployed youth to prepare for competitive exams. He also advised them not to be influenced by provocative political statements.
Finally, CM Revanth Reddy stressed the importance of both education and social consciousness. He said that educated individuals benefit in society, and those who serve their communities with a strong sense of social responsibility are regarded as heroes. He also urged teachers to organize group discussions in schools to promote social awareness alongside academic learning. The CM concluded by encouraging students to pursue higher education and contribute to the rebuilding of Telangana.
