Hyderabad: The Telangana Cabinet Sub-Committee, led by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, has taken steps to improve the welfare of government employees and enhance administrative efficiency. In a meeting on Tuesday, attended by senior ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, and advisor Dr. K Keshava Rao, several demands from employee associations were approved. Both existing and new requests were discussed, reflecting a commitment to resolving staff issues.
The government has already implemented several measures. Two Dearness Allowances (DAs) were sanctioned, with one released in July and another planned in six months. Additionally, Rs 700 crore is being released monthly to settle outstanding employee bills. Other actions include forming a Joint Staff Council, creating a Medical Invalidation Committee, reinstating officials transferred during elections, and regularly holding Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs).
New initiatives were also approved. The long-awaited Employees’ Health Card Scheme will be finalized after consultations on September 8. The Secretariat quota has increased to 12.5%, and temporary inter-local cadre deputations under G.O. 317 will be supported. Reorganizing Gram Panchayat Secretaries and clearing vehicle hire charges regularly were also approved.
The government extended the deadline for PRC 2020 bill settlements to March 31, 2026. It will also review the repatriation of Telangana employees working in Andhra Pradesh. Proposals for a Nursing Directorate and additional cadre strength in new districts are being considered. A committee is tasked with speeding up pending ACB/Vigilance cases.
Special allowances for teaching doctors in remote areas will be discussed with the Pay Revision Commission (PRC). Education Department issues will be handled in a separate meeting with the Secretary. The Sub-Committee emphasized the government’s dedication to employee welfare, assuring ongoing engagement and resolution of pending matters. This approach showcases a move towards more inclusive and responsive governance in Telangana.
