Hyderabad is gearing up for the Jubilee Hills by-election, a crucial event for the Congress Party as it prepares for upcoming local body elections. The party is conducting a thorough survey of potential candidates, ensuring they choose the best contender for this significant bypoll.
The Congress aims to secure a victory in this key constituency, which could strengthen its presence in the state capital. Mohammad Azharuddin is satisfied with being announced as an MLC candidate under the Governor’s quota, leaving the field open for others like former Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, former contestant V Naveen Yadav, and former MP G Ranjith Reddy.
Danam Nagender, the Khairatabad MLA, is also interested in running for Jubilee Hills, especially given the controversy over his defection from BRS. Speculation is rife that he might resign from Khairatabad to contest here, with plans to focus on winning both Jubilee Hills and Khairatabad.
The by-election is critical for the ruling Congress, which is working hard to attract voters through development promises and door-to-door campaigns. Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao, Vivek Venkatsamy, and Ponnam Prabhakar have been active in mobilizing party members in the area. AICC State in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan has emphasized the importance of winning this by-election to boost the party’s image, especially since it lacks representation in the GHMC.
Ponnam Prabhakar leads the campaign efforts, holding meetings with party leaders and booth managers. Vivek Venkatsamy is also actively campaigning in Jubilee Hills. Together with other ministers, they have been attending public events and launching development projects. On Wednesday, Ministers Ponnam and Tummala attended a private event, inaugurating new cloth showrooms in Ameerpet, maintaining their engagement with local residents.
