Hyderabad: The traffic police in Hyderabad have announced the closure of Tarnaka Junction under the flyover for vehicles traveling between Osmania University and Lalapet starting June 6. This junction had been reopened in April for testing purposes.
During this trial period, the traffic police carried out several studies. They used simulations, drone footage, and analyzed Google data. They also experimented with different traffic light timings and examined the road design. Feedback from drivers was also collected.
Originally, the junction was supposed to be open for a trial between April 18 and May 2. However, this trial period was extended to further study the traffic flow.
The findings showed that keeping the junction open was not practical. Closing it was deemed necessary to reduce traffic jams, decrease accidents, and ensure the safety of all road users.
