Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has enrolled in a prestigious leadership program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, becoming the first Chief Minister in independent India to join a program at an Ivy League institution while in office. The Chief Minister will attend the program titled “Leadership for the 21st Century: Chaos, Conflict, and Courage” from January 25 to 30 at the university’s campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The intensive six-day program will bring together participants from over 20 countries across five continents. CM Revanth Reddy will participate in classes, complete assignments, submit homework, and work on group projects alongside global participants. The program is chaired by Professor Tim O’Brien and directed by Professor Karen Morrissey, both renowned faculty members at the Kennedy School.
During the course, participants will analyze case studies from different parts of the world, examining leadership challenges across various times and eras in history. The participant groups will collaborate to solve complex problems and present their solutions in classroom settings. Upon completion, CM Revanth Reddy will receive a program course certification from Harvard, making him the first current Chief Minister in Indian history to achieve this distinction.
Harvard University, founded in 1607, is a private Ivy League research university with over 418 years of academic excellence. The Kennedy School of Government, where CM Revanth Reddy will attend classes, was founded in 1936 and renamed in honor of President Kennedy in 1966. The school offers graduate, masters, and executive education programs. In 2002, the school achieved a milestone with over 52% women students. The institution celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2011, coinciding with Harvard University’s 375th year.
The Kennedy School has maintained its position as one of Harvard’s most international schools, representing over 100 countries. In 2014, the school raised half a trillion dollars from alumni and donors, demonstrating strong global support. Professor Jeremy M. Weinstein assumed the position of dean of the Kennedy School in 2024, leading the institution’s continued commitment to developing global leaders.
The Chief Minister’s participation in this program reflects a commitment to learning contemporary leadership strategies and global best practices. By engaging with international peers and Harvard faculty, CM Revanth Reddy will gain exposure to cutting-edge governance frameworks and leadership methodologies applicable to addressing 21st-century challenges in Telangana and beyond.
