Telangana CM Urges MPs to Unite for State’s Pending Demands Ahead of Parliament Session

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Anumula convened an all-party meeting of Members of Parliament on Monday, calling for unity across political lines to secure the state’s long-pending demands from the Central government. With the Parliament session scheduled to commence on July 20, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for collective efforts to address critical issues affecting Telangana’s development and infrastructure growth.

The meeting highlighted several key infrastructure and water resource projects requiring immediate Central attention. The Chief Minister urged MPs to push for speedy approvals for irrigation projects and essential infrastructure developments. A significant demand raised was the establishment of an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Hyderabad, with MPs being asked to take up the matter directly with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The meeting also discussed fast-tracking the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-I takeover and Phase-II expansion, noting that the Centre has agreed to appoint SBICAPS as a consultant for the project.

BJP MPs Eatala Rajender and K Vishweshwar Reddy were specifically requested to pursue the Metro Rail expansion matter. On the transportation front, the Chief Minister sought Central approval for the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project, noting that 95% of land acquisition has been completed for the northern stretch. Additionally, MPs were urged to secure approval under the Urban Challenge Fund for the ambitious Musi River rejuvenation project, which aims to restore and develop the historic river flowing through Hyderabad.

Water resource management emerged as a critical agenda item during the meeting. The Chief Minister called for follow-up action on Tungabhadra desiltation and securing Telangana’s rightful share of 15.09 TMC water from the Union Jal Shakti Ministry. The meeting also addressed the need to pursue Godavari-Nagarjuna Sagar river-link proposals and the Godavari-Cauvery linkage project. MPs were asked to obtain No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from Andhra Pradesh for pending projects and secure Maharashtra’s approval for the Tummidihatti project.

Aviation and connectivity infrastructure also featured prominently in the discussions. The Chief Minister sought support for Bullet Train connectivity from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to Bengaluru, Chennai, and Mumbai. The meeting emphasized expediting the development of Adilabad Defence Airport and Warangal Airport with Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities and air cargo infrastructure to boost the state’s aviation sector and economic growth.

Chief Minister Revanth Anumula stated that Telangana is working constructively with the Centre in the state’s larger interest. He announced that IAS officer Advaith Kumar Singh has been designated at Telangana Bhavan, New Delhi, to coordinate with MPs on all pending issues. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Advisor Jitender Reddy, MPs from Congress, BJP, and other parties, along with senior government officials.
