Hyderabad: Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, announced that Telangana State is performing well in terms of provident fund contributions. The state has received Rs 19,939 crore in contributions, while payments have amounted to Rs 7,797 crore. This indicates that Telangana is a surplus zone in provident funds. The Union Minister mentioned that there has been a steady increase in contributions during the financial year 2023-2024. He made these remarks while reviewing the performance of the Telangana Zone of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), and the Office of the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) at a meeting in Hyderabad on Saturday.
In Telangana, 47.96 lakh subscribers are currently covered under provident fund services. These subscribers work in 36,018 different establishments across the state. Additionally, 4.54 lakh pensioners are receiving benefits from the system.
Mandaviya also reviewed the efforts by various regional offices within the Telangana Zone to gather feedback on the employment-linked incentive (ELI) scheme, which was introduced in the Union Budget. He emphasized the importance of motivating staff and officers to ensure the success of the ELI scheme while ensuring that no fraudulent activities are carried out by dishonest individuals.
An official statement also highlighted that the settlement of provident fund claims in Telangana has been efficient. During the financial year 2024-2025, 70.39% of claims were settled within 10 days, and 92.89% were settled within 20 days.
