    The Telangana government has decided to increase the package cost for medical treatments provided under the Aarogyasri scheme. They have also added 65 new medical treatments for conditions such as Angiogram, Parkinson’s disease, and spinal cord-related diseases to the healthcare scheme.

    Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu released Rs 497.29 crore towards the enhanced cost of treatment packages. A meeting was held at the Secretariat on June 7 to discuss adding new medical treatments and revising financial packages for existing treatments under the free health insurance scheme.

    The Aarogyasri scheme was established in 2007 to offer quality medical treatment to those in need. There are 2.84 crore beneficiaries of the scheme, with financial assistance of up to Rs 10 lakh per beneficiary. The scheme operates through 1402 hospitals in the State, covering 1,672 medical treatments for various diseases and health problems.

    During the meeting, the Deputy CM decided to increase the cost of 1375 out of 1672 treatments offered under the scheme as recommended by medical experts. They also added 65 modern medical treatments like angiogram, Parkinson’s disease, and spinal cord-related treatments to Aarogyasri.

    Additionally, 98 medical treatments included under Ayushman Bharat were added to Rajiv Aarogyasri, resulting in an extra expenditure of Rs 189.83 crore. The additional cost for the 65 new medical treatments will be Rs 158.2 crore. In light of these decisions, an amount of Rs 497.29 crore was sanctioned by the Deputy CM during the meeting.
