The Telangana state government plans to contest a recent High Court ruling that paused Government Order (GO) 9 about Backward Class (BC) reservations. They intend to take their case to the Supreme Court on Monday.

After examining the court’s decision, state officials decided to hire top lawyers to argue their case. Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Siddhartha Dave, experts in reservation law, are likely to represent them.

The High Court halted GO 9, along with GO 41 and GO 42, because they didn’t meet the “triple test” for reservations. The court cited past Supreme Court decisions that set a 50% limit on reservations as constitutional. The petitioners have two weeks to reply, and the government has four weeks to respond. The court will hear the case again on December 3.
