Mahabubnagar: The Telangana Para-Athletes Association celebrated the success of local para-athletes who secured gold medals at the 7th Indian Open Para Athletics International Championship held on July 11 and 12 in Bengaluru.
Jeevan Ji Deepti won the gold in the T20 category track event with a time of 56.63 seconds. Akira Nandan claimed gold in the T37 category by completing the race in 51.71 seconds. Their impressive performances earned widespread praise from fans across Telangana.
Another standout athlete, Devendra, showed his skill in the javelin and shot put events, highlighting the rising talent in Telangana’s para-athletics scene.
Dr. Shekhar, President of the Para Athletics Association of Telangana, and Gadipalli Prashanth, General Secretary, congratulated the athletes. They reaffirmed their commitment to promoting para-sports and providing athletes with essential training and opportunities.
Singarapu Babu, Executive Member of the Paralympic Committee of India, along with sports supporters Sanjeevayya and Uppunuthula Raju, also offered their congratulations. They emphasized the need for ongoing support and investment in para-athletics.
The association underscored the importance of continued efforts to elevate Telangana’s para-athletes to global platforms and strengthen inclusive sports in the state.
