The State Government plans to ask for special support from the central government to organize the Godavari Pushkaralu, known as the ‘South India’s Kumbh Mela’. Scheduled to begin on July 23, 2027, the government aims to use funds from central programs like Swachh Bharat and Jal Jeevan Mission, plus request additional resources for infrastructure development.

During a meeting on Friday, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy instructed officials to pinpoint projects that could receive central funding. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive package covering tourism, irrigation, and endowments to secure the necessary funds.

Revanth Reddy directed the construction of ghats at key temples along the Godavari in the state. Specific project reports should be made for Basara, Kaleshwaram, Dharmapuri, and Bhadrachalam. These ghats should accommodate two lakh pilgrims daily for the holy dip.
