Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has issued an orange alert for Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Nirmal, Sangareddy, and Medak districts. These areas are expected to receive very heavy rain on Saturday.
A low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal is causing concern. IMD officials have advised the state government to take steps to prevent damage to property and loss of life, including cattle, due to the anticipated heavy rainfall.
A yellow alert has also been issued for several other districts, predicting heavy rain in isolated areas. These include Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, and Mahabubnagar districts. Thunderstorms with lightning and winds reaching 30-40 km/h may also occur in isolated spots across Telangana.
On Friday, heavy rains impacted Adilabad, Mahbubabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Suryapet, and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts. There were no major incidents reported, but Khammam and Suryapet did experience crop losses. State Disaster Management officials have warned about gusty winds of 30 to 40 km/h in areas expecting heavy rain and have urged local administrations to prepare for relief operations.
