Hyderabad: Telangana is gearing up for a sample survey as a pre-test for the Population Census 2027, starting in September. This trial will use modern technology and specialized apps to gather data in two mandals and one municipality in the state.
For a month, both central and state officials will examine any issues that arise, preparing for the main survey planned for March 2027.
Three primary apps—House Listing, Population Census, and Digital Layout Map—will be used. The government will choose mandals with diverse populations, focusing on remote and tribal areas. Census officials will propose locations to central authorities, who will train local officials to act as enumerators and supervisors.
GPS will track the performance of fieldworkers, highlighting the reliance on digital tools. Enumerators will also note any difficulties in reaching challenging terrains.
The State Government will carefully gather data and record any problems encountered during the survey. This detailed report will be sent to the Union Government to aid in planning the full national census.
