Hyderabad rolled out the red carpet for the 72nd Miss World Festival as part of a special Medical Tourism event at AIG Hospitals in Gachibowli.

The event welcomed 25 contestants from the Africa group, along with those who are doctors or psychologists from countries like Guadeloupe, Turkey, Wales, Bosnia, Puerto Rico, Belgium, Guatemala, Lebanon, Malaysia, Poland, France, Northern Ireland, Guyana, and Malta. They received a traditional Telangana welcome—with rose petals, cultural attire, and the sound of live shehnai music filling the air.

Each contestant got a chance to pose with and sign life-sized cutouts of themselves. Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals, kicked off the program with a heartfelt welcome and shared the hospital’s journey and achievements.

The group was split into two for a detailed tour of the hospital’s advanced medical facilities. They explored the Endoscopy Suites, AI Experience Center, Chemotherapy Ward, Research Center, Skill Labs, and Pediatric Ward. Senior doctors including Dr. Reddy, Dr. Sujana Priya, Dr. G.V. Rao, and Dr. Lakshmi guided them through the experience, answering questions and explaining the technologies.

Later, Dr. Reddy hosted an engaging talk titled “The Future of Healthcare”, highlighting how innovation, research, and compassion are shaping tomorrow’s medicine. This was followed by a presentation from Christina Z Chongthu, Telangana’s Health Secretary. She discussed the state’s public health efforts, especially in cancer care and women’s health.

Dr. Reddy emphasized Hyderabad’s rapid rise as a global center for medical tourism, stating, “Telangana is setting a benchmark with top-tier hospitals, smart technology, and dedicated medical teams. Hosting Miss World here brings international attention to our healthcare growth.”

Julia Morley, Chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, praised the initiative. She said, “This festival is a perfect platform to highlight Hyderabad’s world-class healthcare. Many of our contestants are medical professionals or students. They’re excited to learn and share what they’ve discovered here with the world.”

Medical tourism in Hyderabad has seen impressive growth. In 2014, around 75,000 foreign patients sought treatment in Telangana. By 2024, that number more than doubled to 1.55 lakh. Domestically, over 8.82 crore people from other Indian states visited Telangana for medical care in the past year alone.

Thanks to bold investments from both the government and private sector, Telangana now offers affordable, high-quality healthcare. Under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the state is becoming a global hub for medical travel, blending modern infrastructure with expert care.

This first-of-its-kind event at AIG Hospitals combines beauty, health, and diplomacy, presenting Hyderabad as a vibrant city where innovation in healthcare meets global cultural exchange.
