Hyderabad: A young Telugu girl, Dr. Kalasha Naidu, has won the prestigious Asia Icon 2024 award. At just 11 years old, Kalasha, from Andhra Pradesh, was honored in the social service category for her impactful work through the Kalasha Foundation. She received the award during a ceremony held on the 26th and 27th of this month in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The award was presented to her by Colombo Governor Senthil.
The Asia Icon Awards are given annually to individuals and organizations across Asia who excel in various fields such as education, healthcare, business, fashion, lifestyle, and social service. The competition for these awards is tough, with entries coming in from all over the continent. Winners receive a medal, certificate, and a plaque in recognition of their achievements.
Kalasha Naidu made history as the youngest-ever winner in the social service category and the first Indian and Telugu girl to receive this honor. Born in Andhra Pradesh, she completed her primary education at Oakridge International School in Hyderabad and is currently studying in London. Kalasha’s passion for social service began at a young age, leading to her receiving this rare recognition.
Along with the Asia Icon 2024 award, Kalasha also earned an honorary doctorate from the United States of America International University and the UN Global Peace Council. She was recognized as the “Globally Youngest Social Worker.” In addition to her social work, Kalasha is an outstanding student, excelling in languages like Telugu, English, Hindi, Spanish, and French. She is also talented in classical music, sports, yoga, and chess.
Her achievements in academics, sports, social service, and Indian classical arts make her a source of pride for everyone. Dr. Kalasha Naidu’s receipt of the Asia Icon 2024 award is a testament to her dedication and hard work.
Former Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena also attended the event and personally honored Dr. Kalasha Naidu for her achievement.
