Hyderabad: The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) held a training session for AI Champions and District Academic Monitoring Officers (DAMOs) at Vidya Bhavan on Thursday. This event centered on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and Facial Recognition Systems (FRS) in government junior colleges throughout the state.
Dr. Yogita Rana, Secretary of the Education Department, led the initiative. She discussed how AI can significantly improve education. Tools like Gemini, ChatGPT, Meta, and Google’s LLM were highlighted as valuable for enhancing student learning.
Participants were encouraged to implement AI solutions suited to students’ needs. A major focus was on introducing Facial Recognition Systems for better attendance monitoring. These systems will connect with the Centre for Good Governance (CGG) portal for real-time tracking.
The Director of Intermediate Education emphasized the need for practical application and asked officers to hold Mega Parent-Teacher Meetings in each government junior college. These meetings are intended to increase parental involvement and awareness of technological advancements in education. The training highlighted Telangana’s vision to create AI-driven learning environments. AI Champions and DAMOs learned about AI’s role in curriculum delivery, student assessment, and personalized learning.
This initiative supports national efforts to digitize education and provide institutions with advanced tools. By using AI and FRS, the Board aims to enhance transparency, track attendance, and monitor academic performance. Officers were encouraged to implement these technologies quickly and effectively, positioning Telangana as a leader in AI-enabled education in India.
