Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has introduced a new project called ‘Yatradanam’ to enhance social service and travel inclusivity. This initiative was launched with a special fund by the corporation. On Tuesday, Telangana’s Transport and BC Welfare Minister, Ponnam Prabhakar, revealed the Yatradanam poster alongside TGSRTC’s Managing Director VC Sajjanar.
Both Ponnam Prabhakar and Sajjanar contributed Rs 1 lakh each to the Yatradanam fund. The Minister’s donation will support temple and leisure tours, while Sajjanar’s contribution, through the Akshaya Vidya Foundation, will provide transportation for underprivileged students to the Science Centre at Tank Bund for educational experiences.
Ponnam Prabhakar praised TGSRTC for this thoughtful initiative. He believes it benefits those wanting to visit famous temples and tourist sites. He urged businesses to support TGSRTC through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs and encouraged personal donations for tours.
TGSRTC states that individuals, public figures, corporations, NRIs, associations, and NGOs can donate to help orphans, elderly, differently-abled individuals, and poor students. This initiative will offer trips to renowned temples, tourist spots, and recreational places, creating joy and lifelong memories on special days. Families and friends can sponsor trips as acts of kindness.
TGSRTC’s Executive Director Munishekhar explained that they’ve developed special tour packages to major pilgrimage and tourist locations in the state. Depending on the donation and distance, they provide AC, Super Luxury, Deluxe, and Express buses.
Bookings should be made at least a week in advance. Interested donors can contact their local TGSRTC Depot Managers for arrangements. For more details, citizens can call the TGSRTC Helpline at 040-69440000 or 040-23450033.
Sajjanar highlighted that this initiative marks a unique step in India, combining social responsibility and cultural preservation. He invited donors, associations, NGOs, public representatives, and companies to participate in this meaningful project.
Other attendees included Executive Directors Rajashekhar, Khushrosha Khan, Venkanna, Finance Advisor Vijaya Pushpa, and senior HODs.
