The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, saying that their nine-year rule has been a failure. AAP MP Sandeep Pathak said that Modi is not a world leader, just a propaganda leader, and that India has not achieved world leadership in education, health, social justice, or law and order. Pathak also criticized Modi for not interacting with the media and for imposing a ban on media interactions. He accused the BJP of manipulating and pressuring the media for their own benefit and misusing the Central agencies to frame opponents with sedition charges. Pathak said that the government’s actions have resulted in a decline in GDP and that demonetization was one of the biggest failures of the Modi government. He also criticized the government for mismanaging the Covid-19 pandemic and exposing the poor state of the health system.

Pathak raised questions about the Prime Minister’s style of functioning and wondered why he never interacts with the media. He pointed out that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh occasionally held press conferences, and when Modi came to power, people expected him to have interactions with the media. Pathak said that currently there is no freedom given to the media and that the BJP has been manipulating and pressuring the media for their own benefit, thereby undermining an institution.

Targeting the government over the misuse of the Central agencies, Pathak accused the BJP of framing opponents with sedition charges. He emphasized that allegations of sedition are serious in nature and have far-reaching consequences for a person’s life. Pathak said that all the research institutes are suffering and no significant progress has been made in this area over the past nine years.

Pathak stated that over the past nine years, the Modi government has excelled only in misusing federal probe agencies such as the ED and the CBI against opponents. According to Pathak, soon after coming to power, the Modi government unleashed the ED and the CBI on the opposition. They would threaten the opposition leaders to either join the BJP or face the consequences. He mentioned that over the past nine years, the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and the Prevention of Corruption Act (PC Act) have been mostly misused, thereby exposing the true face of the government.

Pathak also targeted the government for mismanagement during the Covid-19 pandemic as it completely exposed the poor state of the health system. He said that people died due to a lack of beds and oxygen, which was another significant failure of the BJP government in the last nine years.
