YSRTP General Secretary Thudi Devender Reddy has confirmed that YS Sharmila, the president of YSRTP, will be joining the Congress party. Sharmila had a meeting with key party leaders at the Lotus Pond office on Tuesday, where they discussed the merger of the two parties.
According to Reddy, Sharmila will officially join the Congress on Thursday and there is a possibility for her to receive a prominent position in the All India Congress Committee (AICC). He also mentioned that other leaders from YSRTP will also be given positions in the Congress.
There is a growing campaign for Sharmila to take over the Andhra Pradesh Congress. In light of this, many leaders are considering joining the party. One such leader is Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy (RK), who has already announced his decision to join Sharmila.
