A recent update from Bloomberg’s Senior ETF Analyst, Eric Balchunas, provided new information on the chances of various spot cryptocurrency ETFs getting approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Balchunas mentioned on X (formerly Twitter) that he hopes to hear directly from the SEC, but currently, the chances of several crypto ETFs getting approval are looking strong.
According to Balchunas, some popular cryptocurrencies have a 90% chance of approval in 2025. These include Crypto Basket ETFs (a mix of different coins), Litecoin (LTC), Solana (SOL), and XRP. XRP is expected to have an important update on April 21st. Other cryptocurrencies like Dogecoin (DOGE), HBAR, Cardano (ADA), Polkadot (DOT), and Avalanche (AVAX) have approval odds ranging from 75% to 80%.
The SEC is likely to treat most of these crypto assets as commodities, which increases their chances of approval. The report also highlights important dates and regulatory deadlines for each ETF.
If these ETFs are approved, it could pave the way for more investors to easily and safely invest in popular cryptocurrencies through traditional stock market channels. This indicates that the crypto market is becoming a more significant part of the traditional financial world.
