Commuters in the Gachibowli area will face significant traffic diversions starting 8 April 2026 as authorities implement route changes for the construction of a multi-level flyover and underpass at IIIT Junction. The traffic regulations will remain in effect for approximately one year, affecting daily commuters during peak hours from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
The ongoing construction project will impact several key locations including Gachibowli Junction, IIIT Junction, Gachibowli Stadium, HCU Gate No. 2, Lingampally, Financial District, Gopanpally Thanda, Gowlidoddi, Q-City, and Wipro Junction. These areas form crucial connectivity points for thousands of daily commuters traveling through the tech corridor.
For travelers heading from Gachibowli to Lingampally, the new route requires proceeding from IIIT Junction to Wipro Junction, taking a right turn toward Gowlidoddi, then continuing through Gopanpally Junction and Nallagandla before reaching Lingampally. This diversion adds considerable distance to the usual route.
Commuters traveling in the opposite direction from Lingampally to Gachibowli must follow an alternate path starting from SMR/HCU Bus Depot, passing through Masjidbanda, Sriramnagar, and Botanical Junction. After taking a right turn at Udupi Hotel, vehicles must make a U-turn near ZPHS Gachibowli before reaching Gachibowli Junction.
A third major diversion affects traffic from Gowlidoddi, Q-City, and Kokapet heading toward IIIT. These vehicles must now travel via Wipro Junction to Nanakramguda Rotary-2, take a left turn onto the Outer Ring Road (ORR), and then proceed to Gachibowli Junction.
Traffic authorities have issued an important notice warning commuters to expect heavy congestion near IIIT Junction throughout the construction period. Officials strongly advise planning journeys in advance and allocating extra travel time to account for potential delays caused by the diversions.
The public advisory emphasizes the importance of using alternate routes wherever possible and avoiding peak hours to minimize inconvenience. Motorists are urged to follow instructions from traffic police personnel deployed at key junctions to manage the flow of vehicles during the construction phase.
The multi-level flyover and underpass project aims to ease long-term traffic congestion in the Gachibowli area, which has witnessed exponential growth due to the presence of IT companies, educational institutions, and residential complexes. Authorities have requested public cooperation in adhering to the diversions and staying safe while navigating the altered routes during the one-year construction period.
